Freemode peds vs single-model custom peds

GTA V has two broad kinds of peds. Freemode peds (mp_m_freemode_01 and mp_f_freemode_01) are built from interchangeable parts: heads, hair, tops, legs and shoes that players mix freely. Most clothing stores on servers use these.

Single-model peds, like story characters and many custom peds, come as one complete model. They have fewer clothing options, so new outfits usually need to be made specifically for them.

Both are useful. Freemode is best for player choice, while single-model peds are perfect for unique characters that should always look a certain way.

Some servers mix both: freemode peds for players and single-model peds for important NPCs or special characters.

If you're unsure which type you have, tell us the ped name and we'll explain what kind of clothing work it needs.
